Does this safe meet College of Pharmacy requirements in my province?

The B-3424-R4 is built to provincial College of Pharmacy specifications across all Canadian provinces. The B-rated safe construction, time-delay LaGard 702 series lock, 1″ stainless steel locking bolt, and A36 resistant plate together satisfy the storage requirements that Colleges of Pharmacy publish for Schedule II controlled substances. That said, each provincial College sets its own audit and bolt-down expectations — Ontario, BC, and Alberta all differ on whether bolt-down is mandatory at certain volumes. If you want us to confirm fit against your province's current specifications, send us your College registration number and we'll cross-check before you order.

What's the difference between StrongBox and Advance series safes?

StrongBox safes are manufactured in Canada and exclusive to the Delmen StrongBox Series — B-3424-R4 sits in this line, built to the same College of Pharmacy specifications as the rest of the series. Advance Series safes are sourced separately and serve higher-volume or specialty institutional applications where a larger format or different lock configuration is required (the A-6024 is an Advance Series example). For most community pharmacies, the StrongBox B-series is the standard fit. Hospital narcotics rooms and multi-program institutional pharmacies more often deploy Advance Series.

Is bolt-down installation mandatory or optional?

The B-3424-R4 ships with 4 bolt-down holes at the base and is bolt-down ready. Whether it's mandatory depends on two things: your provincial College of Pharmacy guidelines, and your insurance carrier requirements. Some provinces require bolt-down at all volume tiers; others require it above a Schedule II inventory threshold. Most insurance carriers require bolt-down for any controlled-substance safe. Our GTA white-glove install includes bolt-down service into a concrete floor as part of the placement; for sites outside the GTA, you'll coordinate bolt-down with your contractor at install time. We strongly recommend bolt-down regardless of mandate — an unsecured 500 lb safe is still removable with the right equipment.

How does the time-delay lock work, and can it be adjusted?

The LaGard 702 series electronic lock supports a configurable time delay between code entry and bolt retraction. Once a valid code is entered, the lock enters a countdown (commonly 1–15 minutes, programmable) before the bolt will retract — preventing impulsive access during a hold-up or after-hours intrusion. The lock stores 30 codes total: 2 manager codes (which can program and audit) and 28 user codes (which can open but not modify). Delay time, code expiry, and audit log retention are all configured by a manager code. We can walk you through programming over the phone after install, or include programming as part of GTA white-glove setup.

Can existing pharmacy cabinet space accommodate this safe without retrofit?

The B-3424-R4 is designed to replace a standard wooden pharmacy cabinet in its 34″ × 24″ × 20″ footprint — most existing dispensary layouts will accept it without redesign. Floor needs to be level and able to support 500 lb concentrated load. If you're planning to bolt down, you'll need clear access to the floor underneath (no vinyl or laminate that you don't want to drill through). The safe doesn't need ventilation clearance like a refrigerator — push it against a wall and it's in. Send us your dispensary photos and we'll confirm fit before ordering.
