What makes a safe compliant with my provincial College of Pharmacy?

Each provincial College of Pharmacy requires controlled substances to be stored in a solid metal safe with an electronic time-delay lock (set to a 5-minute minimum), located inside the dispensary, secured or non-removable, and accompanied by college-mandated signage. Every Delmen safe is built to meet these requirements: heavy-gauge steel, LaGard 702 time-delay lock at the 5-minute college default, dispensary-sized footprints, bolt-down holes, and two free time-delay signboards with every order.

What’s the difference between the StrongBox and Advance series?

StrongBox safes are black, Made in Canada, and built with heavier steel — typically chosen for new builds and pharmacies prioritizing domestic manufacturing. Advance safes are white powder-coated, competitively priced, and the only series with an integrated methadone bottle holder (on the R3, R4, R5, and R10 models) — typically chosen for methadone-program pharmacies. Both series use the same LaGard 702 lock and meet the same college requirements.

How does the time-delay lock work, and can I set the delay?

LaGard 702 is an electronic time-delay lock. After you enter the manager or user code, the safe begins a countdown — default 5 minutes, the college-required minimum. When the timer ends, you have a short opening window to re-enter the code and unlock. The delay is programmable up to 99 minutes; it can be extended above 5 minutes but not reduced below the provincial minimum. Each safe supports 29 codes total: 1 manager + 28 user.

Which models include a methadone bottle holder?

The integrated methadone bottle holder is an Advance-series feature, available on four models: A-3020-R3, A-3524-R4, A-3824-R5, and A-3840-R10. It holds standard methadone bottles upright inside the safe. StrongBox models do not include a methadone holder.

Do I need to bolt the safe down, and can you help with installation?

Provincial colleges generally require the safe to be secured or to be of a weight that resists removal. Bolt-down holes are standard on every Delmen model, and high-weight builds (up to 700 lb) resist removal on their own. For installation: we offer GTA white-glove service (delivery, bolt-down, and on-site lock programming); for the rest of Canada, we provide complete install instructions and the hardware list, and can coordinate with a local locksmith on request.

What signage do I need, and is it included?
